Anyway...
Was late to electronics today.. But didn't seem to have missed out on much.
Only two pages ahead of the notes than last lecture.

Also got Assignment 8 today, Bit more complexity but I finished the first exercise with ease.
And could have possible completed the second too, But I figured I better make sure the first is perfect.

And the lectures are starting to get more advance for C++ too.
Which is good.

Just watched the first episode of Master Chef USA.

There was a cocky prick of guy on there, Just a real arrogant guy.

Then when asked what he did, he said he was a Software Engineer.
And I said "F***! is that what I am going to turn into?!!?"
Then thought F***, is that what I am already???

I hope not lol.

Tiredness...

Last couple of day's in the afternoon/evenings I have been real tired.

More so than normal.
I know it's not lack of sleep cause I have been getting plenty and having nice little sleep ins except for two days
a week.

It's just weird, I am really tired while I am writting this...

Anyway got another assignment back today.
And a few bad/naughty things that really should have been coded differently.
It wasn't wrong, just bad practise/style blah blah.
Anyway I got 28/32

I am fully confident that I will pass C++.

Not much else to say, But this weekend having a couple of friends and cousins come round to make Machinimas on Sunday.
Should be fun.

For those that don't know what a Machinima is, It is a video/movie that is made with a game. Usely have voice overs/music.

Programing B.

In my C++ class we have started on the Programing B course lectures.

Which is the more advanced  C++.

We have also started with object orientated programing in C++.

So alls pretty good and cool.
I like learning new stuff.

Not a lot to add.

I will try to find interesting random things to lengthen them out further when they get this short.

Anyway I typed up my code and worked first time with a small bug.
Fixed it straight away too.

Not too bad.

Anyway not much else to say so yeah.

Yeah I forgot to post most of last week.

well got two C++ assignments back.

Assignment 4:  26/26
Assignment 5:  28/28

Waiting for Assignment 6 to be returned and started 7 today got the first two exercises done.

And wrote the code(the actual code not pseudocode) for the last exercise during the tutorial/lecture today while
my teacher was explaining Assignment 7 and giving tips on how to go about coding it.

So yeah its all going good.

Also over the weekend I played a cool game of Halo 3 on the 360.
Where this glitch happened



It's pretty cool if I say so myself.

Mon-Day

Ok today got Assignment 6,
Finshed all but the last exercise before the end of class.

Yeah, cause I'm awesome like that.
Not mentioning the guy who finshed all well before me.

Anyway the last Exercise is worth 3 marks.
6 if you can get the display to a certain way.
8 if you can do that and limit the amount of loops used to 5 or less.

And just for fun it is suggested to try limit the loops even more. (But not to hand in cause the code gets very messy and hard to read!)

Anyway jumped right into making it work with just one loop. And I am about half way there.
The guy who finished before got it down to two.

But the way I am going is so hard complicated and confusing, he couldn't figure it out when he looked at it.
And every time someone distracted me from it or I stop focusing I had to re-read it several times just to understand what the heck I was trying to make it do.

I will make sure I get the 5 loop one done and handed in, But for now this one loop is very fun and interesting.
And I am 100% sure I can pull it off. Just need a few more tweaks.

Space Invaders.

So yeah, being that the assignments are easy and done way within the time limit for them,
I have decided to start work on recreating an Arcade classic, In console mode.
Yup I am making Space Invaders!

Another guy in my class is working on snake, he is way ahead of me in these little projects we have decided
to do, But its not a competition, And if it is Space Invaders would win. =P

Also while in the lab for electronics I noticed on the shelf some old style Mac mice and keyboards.
I was OMGosh! I want them!
Then I looked next to them and saw not one, but two Macintosh LC IIIs!!!!
And anyone that knows me well knows that I love messing with old tech.
And these are pretty old tech, did a search on them:

The 25 MHz processor has me sold!

But I doubt that the heads of the department would sell them to me...

Windows 7

Ok I have Windows 7 now.

So far it's just so meh...

It looks like vista.
Feels like vista.
Acts like vista.
Even tastes like vista.

By god! if I didn't know it was Windows 7 I would say it's Vista!

Ok.. maybe it's not the exact same as vista but it pretty much feels more like an update than a whole new OS.

There is only a couple of things that I have noticed so far.

And that there is less prompting, But its the same kind of prompting as in vista(which I hated more than the amount of times I was prompted.)
And a lot of the pictures and colours.
Oh and that when I open up explorer(The file veiwer not browser.) it takes me to a folder called "Libraries"?
And theres no way to change that. Nor create a shortcut to "My Computer." Or anything...

Oh and the driver for my sound card doesn't work... and apparently it is the latest... =/

So far Windows 7 is just Vista 2.0, Well to me that is.

But what was I expecting? It's Windows! I can't expect anything good until after a few service packs has come out.

Anyway lets talk about course, Had an electronics lecture and a software engineering lecture.
Yup...
Started working on space invaders in a console app.... Haven't gotten far... Mainly cause it isn't a project just something I have decided to do in spare time.
Oh and in the software engineering lecture I found out what XP in Windows XP stands for.

We were looking at "Extreme Programming (XP)" which is blah blah I won't get into it.
And someone asked if thats what XP means in Windows XP, But no it doesn't.

It means Experience.
Yup just like an RPG.

I have 6k Windows Experience! only 1k and I lvl my Windows to SP3!!!

Dadadada Upgrading to Windows 7

I am finally upgrade the OS on my PC to Windows 7.
Which Microsoft has kindly given to all I.T. students free of charge.

BUT IT IS NOT FREE SOFTWARE!!!

As my software engineering teacher keeps reminding us.
We just don't have to pay for it. =P

I really do like my software engineering teacher. He has a very good sense of humor.
And I find his teaching methods uhh... great?

Yeah great! I am so good with describing things aren't I?

Anyway I haven't Upgraded yet. Just backing up files and posting on this blogg before hand.
Incase something goes terribly wrong!

But I have installed/reinstalled a fair amount of OS, So I should be fine...
But I also know it doesn't always go as planned with windows...
especially installing....

OOPs forgot mondays post.

Yup I forgot to post on monday.

Ahh well.
Not much has happened, Finshed all exercises on the 5th assignment today, Except for the extra credit one, which I will be doing later on in the week.
Mainly cause I got the 3rd assignment back today.. and I got 21/30 marks >.<
Had a few marks off cause of minor bugs and formatting errors(about 3 marks total for that.)

And 6 marks off cause I forgot to draw up a flow chart and hand it in with the assignment!

But I have made sure I have gotten the flow charts for the others.

Anyway Like I said not much else to say.

Teh last post of the week.

Ok here's the last post for  the week.

Not much to say really.
Handed in my 4th C++ Assignment today.
Had an electronics practical that was just hooking some wires and components up and measuring values of stuff.

Yeah not a lot to report on.
I will be going to a lan party tomorrow. So come sunday I should have alot to say but I would probs pass out from lack sleep when I get back from it. And forget everything.

Electronics

Ok it's time for today's post.
Ahh Thursdays, I only have two classes on Thursdays, and they are both 1 hour lectures. Pretty cruisy.
(Cruisy doesn't actually mean what I am using it in this context, nor what I thought all my life.. well it sort of does anyway heres the link cruisy ).

But electronics is one of them, And I have to say some of the stuff we are learning and the pace off it... well I am starting to have trouble keeping up... (Don't get me wrong, I understand most of it.)

Man I really wish I took electronics in the last year of highschool with my friends Jimmy and Toby.
If only I listened to them when they bugged me about doing it. Then I probs be coping a lot better in electronics.

With that aside today has been a fairly good day.

Oh a weird thing did happen at lunch tho.. One of the guys I have started hanging out with asked me if I had a relation called Holly, Cause he knew/knows a person called Holly with the same last name as me.

I thought it was weird cause I couldn't remember a Holly on my dads side of my family(well.. either side really...)
Mind you I have never see much of that side of the family, mainly cause I use to live far away and only saw them once or twice a year.

Anyway I double checked with my bro and he wasn't sure either? Anyway it was weird.

Ok Ok.
This is my first post on the NEW blog site.

After much anoyance finding there wasn't a way for anyone on the old one to post comments.
Well.. that is without the comments becoming a new blog post and moving everything I say down =/

Real stupid....

So what to say today?
Well my Software Engineering teacher opened the lecture in a really funny great way.

Teacher - Right here we all are? Everyone excited and ready to jump right into it say YIPPEE!!!

Over half the class - YIPPEE!!!

Teacher - That's one way to start a lecture in't? An alternative is... Ok class, today lets start by having a quiet moment to think, What do micro-proccessors mean to you? and how do you feel about them? Then after that we will share our feelings.

It was really great. If C++ is my favourite class so far this is a close second.

Also later in the practical I was copying the CD images of, MS Office, Visual Studio and Windows 7, which are on Weltec I.T. server that all I.T. students are welcomed to under a student licence.
He walked up behind me in said in a mean voice "Who said you can copy that?!?"
and I said unsurely "Umm... you did?"
Him "Oh yeah that's right, so I did."

I am having a really great time on this course, and I can only imagine it will get better =]

Dr. Pepper!!!

Ok now that I am up to date with the weeks I will make this the Monday/Tuesday update.
Well now I already said the marks for the second Assignment which I got yesterday and not in week 3 in the third week post?

Guess I messed that up didn’t I?

Anyway moving on.
On Monday I discovered that the dairy that’s on the way to Weltec(the poly-tech I go to.) has Dr. Pepper!!! not only that but it also has Cherry Dr. Pepper!!!!

I had never had the cherry one before so I brought one, LOVED IT!!! and now I got two sitting in my fridge…
I have to watch my self… I find Dr. Pepper very addicting…
I once brought $60 worth over the course of two days and drunk all of it.
I don’t want to end up spending all my rent money on it =/

Anyway the 4th assignment I have been having alot of trouble with it, and been finding that all the trouble have been stupid little mistakes like have the wrong symbol here or the wrong function here.

C++ is starting to get a bit anoying but its still a hell lot of FUN!

Also Monday morning 8 am Lectures on Electronics are starting to get real boring.
Its bad enough we start at 8 am, but the electronics teacher starts to develop a mono tone after 15mins of talking.

I almost fell asleep yesterday! But hey I didn’t get to finish my coffee that morning and was extra tired for unknown reasons?
But anyway it is still pretty bad.

Week three

Ok ok week three.
Started bonding with some of the people in my class.

I know what you are thinking.
Only started bonding now?

Well I am a slow bonder, not my fault I just don’t like people that much.
I don’t instantly go to some random and say hi, I only speak if I notice something.
Like one guys bad math and we started talking about math then somehow moved to the upcoming release of Starcraft 2!!!
And another guy after a C++ class seeing him log onto bungie.net and we started talking about halo and xbox live.

Anyway, about the course, Learnt more especially in C++(Starting to become my favourite class.)
Speaking of C++
I have forgot to mention in the other week updates we get assignments from our C++ teacher with about 3-4 exercises in each one.
We usely have 1 1/2 - 2 weeks to complete them and we get a new one every week.
It being week 4 as I am writing this I have handed in 3 of them and have had 2 returned marked.
First Assignment I got 21/23 marks.

1 mark taken off each assignment because I had improper Printing Format for my hard copy.(He is real strict, which I think is a good thing.)
Second Assignment I got 31/32 marks.
1 mark taken off because there was a bug in the code of my first exercise.
It went:
int interger;
where it should have said.
int interger = 0;

But ahh well, we can’t always get it perfect everytime ;)
Oh and one last thing to add. Moved in to the new place, it’s alright.
Only one problem.
The shower… you have a choice when getting in it. Either a.) You have it cold with lots of pressure. Or b.) You have it hot with no pressure.
Again you can’t always have it perfect everytime ;)

Well much the same with week one.

Don’t really remember anything specific.
Oh yeah found out about plans to move flats with my bro and his gf. (Was currently staying with them and two other flatmates.)

And so yeah sums up week two.

Week one.

Cause I don’t have the memory of an elephant I can’t tell you each and everyday I have had so far.
But I will summarize them… Hopefully.
I met all my Teachers, or should I say Lecturers?
Hmm…?
I don’t quite know?

Anyway they were all nice and seemed that I could easly learn from all of them.
Even with there completely different teaching methods.

One major thing for me to note is that My C++ teacher takes his lectures with an Overhead projector!!!!
It just amazed me that he would use something so old to teach programming languages with?
But what was even more amazing is that it worked, I learn so much form his two hour lectures and I am instantly coding the next practical.

Oh and my electronics teacher has gone straight into the complicatedness of transistors, But I seem to be coping with it.

Oh I haven’t mentioned what courses/classes I am taking this semester have I?
Well its:

Programming A/B (both in the same line one after the other, both C++)

Electronics II (it is analogue electronics.)

Software Engineering (all the theory and work behind making a successful program.)

Pretty much I am into my third week? Yeah third week of my Poly-tech course.
Bachelor of Information Technology Majoring in Software Engineering!!!
I was going to start a blog at the start of the course and etc..

But forgot.

Cause that’s what I do, I forget. =P

Anyway the next few Blog posts should hopefully get anyone reading this up to speed.
